THLA Summer Camp Success Story – Mohamed Moussaid

THLA Hotel Summer Camp Success Story

Meet Mohamed Moussaid, who began his professional hotel career after attending the THLA hotel summer camp in 2022.

Mohamed, an immigrant from Morocco, is passionate about the hospitality industry. He attended the 2022 Texas Hotel & Lodging Association Hotel Summer Camp at the Westin Galleria after graduating from Richardson High School just weeks before.

Bobbie Lynn Weir, his exceptional high school Hospitality teacher, helped him establish valuable industry connections and selected Mohamed to receive a THLA Hotel Summer Camp scholarship.

“Last year I was fortunate to be part of the THLA program at the Westin Galleria, where I met Mrs. Wieland and began an incredible chapter in my career. Fast forward to today, I am proud to call the Omni Dallas Hotel my workplace. The THLA program played a pivotal role in helping me secure this position,” said Mohamed.

The camp’s culminating activity, the college and career fair, introduced him to multiple hotel representatives, and after careful consideration, Mohamed chose the Omni Dallas Hotel as his professional home.

Summer Camps in Dallas, Houston & San Antonio

Mohamed recently addressed the participants of the 2023 Hotel Summer Camp at the Omni Dallas Hotel. His story inspired the hotel summer camp participants and emphasized the immense value of the THLA Hotel Summer Camp in creating industry connections and learning about the industry. He challenged the camp participants to be brave and move out of their comfort zones.

In June 2023, THLA hosted summer camps in Dallas at the Omni Hotel, Houston at the Hilton University of Houston, and San Antonio at the Hilton Palacio del Rio. A total of 138 Texas students and their teachers attended one of the three camps. THLA looks forward to hearing about and sharing many additional success stories in the future.
