Future Hospitality Leaders Take Center Stage at the THLA Board Meeting!
Future Hospitality Leaders
The future of Texas hospitality was on full display on October 20, when the six founding student officers of Future Hotel & Tourism Professionals (FHTP) presented to the Texas Hotel & Lodging Association (THLA) Board of Directors at the Hilton Americas-Houston.
These impressive young leaders shared their vision for FHTP, a new Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) designed to introduce students to the exciting career opportunities available in the hotel and tourism industry while developing their leadership and professional skills.
The Founding Officers
Representing Texas City ISD and Richardson ISD, the founding officers included:
Alexa Lozano – President
Genesis Gonzalez – Vice President
Alicia Johnson – Vice President of Community Service
Orion Kinsey – Vice President of Records
Cindy Salazar – Vice President of Media
Juan Posada – Vice President of Membership
During their presentation, the officers highlighted their plans to grow FHTP, engage students across Texas, and connect future hospitality professionals with industry leaders through initiatives such as Groundhog Job Shadow Day and Lobby to Leadership.
The presentation was especially meaningful because it gave these students an opportunity to demonstrate their leadership and public speaking skills directly to the hotel executives who are helping shape the future of the industry.
These students aren’t just learning about leadership—they’re already putting it into action!
Thank You!
A special thank-you to the THLA Board of Directors for welcoming and encouraging these future leaders, and to the dedicated educators who are helping guide them on their journey. Jill Greer and Bobbie Lynn Weir of Texas City ISD, who have helped guide and support the founding officers.
Their commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for students and connecting classroom learning with real-world hospitality experiences is helping build the next generation of industry professionals.
The future of Texas hospitality is bright, and these six students are helping lead the way!
