GSA Releases FY 2026 Per Diem Rates

GSA Releases FY 2026 Per Diem Rates

The federal General Services Agency (GSA) announced federal lodging per diem rates for Fiscal Year 2026 (FY 2026) for cities and areas across the nation will remain unchanged from the prior fiscal year. The FY 2026 rates are effective October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026.

The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) argued that rising costs justify an increase, but also stressed the need to preserve government per diem rates at least at current levels. The GSA made its decision to keep per diem rates flat in the context of a sharp reduction in government travel amidst broader cost-cutting efforts.

The federal per diem rates for Texas are available on this GSA webpage.

Per Diem Rate Remains Unchanged

The “CONUS” rate is the default federal per diem rate for geographic areas that do not have a specific federal per diem rate set for that locale.  The federal CONUS per diem rate for lodging remains unchanged at $110 per night for FY 2026 for federal government travelers.

The federal daily per diem rate for meals and incidental expenses is $68, with larger metros generally having a M&IE rate between $74 and $80 per day.  The M&IE rates are also available for viewing on the same GSA webpage.

State Government Travel

For Texas state government travel or Texas local government travel:

State and local government travel mirrors the federal per diem rates.  This remains unchanged for FY 2026.  Follow the federal per diem rates (standard federal $110 CONUS or the selected metro area per diem rate, as applicable to your hotel’s location).
