1.  Outdoor fun at Margaritaville Lake Resort

Conroe’s Margaritaville Lake Resort is more than just a destination to unwind and sip on margaritas, it is an outdoor lover’s paradise! Resting on 186 acres on the shores of beautiful Lake Conroe, water activities abound at Margaritaville. After you have unpacked at your waterfront cottage, get ready to set sail on Conroe’s Little Palm Yacht. Visitors will enjoy a sunset dinner cruise and take in the sights of Lake Conroe during this unique outdoor experience. Margaritaville also offers boat rentals so you can become captain for the day. Rent anything from stand up paddleboards, tritoon boats, kayaks, and electric paddleboats and experience the water from a new point of view. When the temperature rises, you can cool off in one of Margaritaville’s five pools, splash around at Jolly Mon Waterpark, or cozy up in the heated infinity pool and hot tubs when you need to warm up. You can also practice your swing at the 18-hole golf course, and your backhand at Margaritaville’s tennis and regulation-size pickleball courts.

2.  Hiking

Spend the day surrounded by nature and embark on a hike through the Texas woods. Less than 30 minutes from Downtown Conroe you will find the “hikers Jewel of Texas,” The Lone Star Hiking Trail. If you are visiting the trail in the springtime, you will discover beautiful magnolia trees in full bloom at the magnolia section of the trail.

A portion of the Lone Star Hiking Trail weaves its way through the Sam Houston National Forest where you can enjoy fishing, hiking, and birdwatching. Aside from hiking through the pine trees, the W. Goodrich Jones State Forest also offers unique trail activities like horseback riding, geocaching opportunities, and two lakes with fishing and room to picnic.

3. Playing at 7 Acre Wood

Exploring Conroe with kiddos or consider yourself a kid at heart? Conroe’s 7 Acre Wood park is sure to ignite childlike wonder! This old-fashioned family fun park has a variety of outdoor activities that the entire family will enjoy. Grab a club and play on the mini-golf course, and then let the kids run wild on the playground with a giant wooden sail-boat, a gigantic sandbox, slides, and more. Don’t forget to mosey on over to the old Western Play Town where you will be transported back to the Wild West. Kids and adults alike will love the 7 Acre Wood petting zoo where you can say hello to animals like donkeys, llamas, deer, and ponies.

4. Adventuring on Lake Conroe

Enjoy Lake Conroe’s beautiful 22,000-acres of sparkling water all year long! Lake Conroe has been deemed one of the best lakes to fish in, so cast your line and real in a catch. Whether you are reeling in hybrid stripers in January or catching catfish in July and August, there are numerous different species to catch every month of the year.

If you are feeling adventurous, Lake Conroe has water activities to get your adrenaline going. Spend a day in Conroe’s historic downtown area and learn about the city’s history through a walking tour of the art benches! 13 beautifully crafted art benches are located throughout the quaint downtown area, each of which tells a unique story of Conroe’s history. While these benches are perfect for a photo-op, when you take a closer look, you can learn about Conroe’s past in the oil and lumber industries, the Crighton Theatre, the music scene, and more. 6. Birding

Seasoned birdwatchers and beginners will appreciate the many birding opportunities in Conroe. Thanks to Conroe’s four national forests and lake, unique bird species can be spotted from fall to summer like the Downy Woodpecker, Red-headed Woodpecker, and Yellow-throated Warbler. Head to W.
