The Texas Hotel & Lodging Association, in conjunction with the Hotel & Lodging Association of Greater Houston and the Asian American Hotel Owner’s Association, is holding a Houston Area Legislative Summit on December 12th at The Hotel Laura Houston Downtown (1070 Dallas ST. Houston, TX 77002). The event will be held between 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., with registration, networking at 7:15 a.m., and a full breakfast served between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.
The Legislative Summit will include a moderated Q&A with State Senators and State Representatives from the Greater Houston area. These legislative summits effectively secure support and feedback from state officials on the top legislative priorities of the Texas lodging industry. For example, we will be asking the elected state officials about items such as 1) the $160 million in state funding for promotion of Texas as a Tourism Destination; 2) Continued Support for the State Event Trust Fund and Major Events Reimbursement Program; 3) Maintaining the Requirement that Local Hotel Tax Uses Directly Promote Tourism/Hotel Activity; 4) Opposition to Pre-emption of Cities from Regulating the Proliferation of Short Term Rentals. We will also ask each legislator to briefly talk about their priorities and concerns for the upcoming legislative session.
The sponsored cost will be $15 per person for individual seats or $100 for a table of ten, and there is a reduced cost of valet parking at $12. The Hotel Laura will provide an excellent sit-down breakfast, a great way to start your day. If possible, we ask that your hotel seek to register a table of 10 attendees to support this event. Please register your attendees as soon as possible, as the event is sure to sell out! Click here to register.
Thanks in advance for your support and participation.
