2017 Texas Legislative Session: February Update
It’s the end of February, and the 2017 Texas Legislative Session rounds out its second month. February moves quickly with bill filing, committee formation, and the start of debate on proposed legislation deemed to be a high priority for statewide elected officials.
For the Texas Hotel & Lodging Association, February means it’s time to Converge on the Capitol, time to dig deep into our bill tracking and organization, filing our own bills, and begin negotiations on legislation affecting our industry.
In every legislative session, six to eight thousand bills are filed. THLA checks every bill for its potential effect on our industry, and we monitor hundreds of these bills. You can follow our report of all the bills we track here, updated every week. This weekly tracking report includes links to the bill’s language on the state website, where you too can create tracking alerts of important legislation.
In the next issue of Industry Update, after the official bill filing deadline has passed, we will publish a full update and summary of all important tracked legislation.
We also maintain a status update of our important tracked legislation by category here.
