Josie Randolph has lived in Houston all her life. She loves to travel but she loves to come home.

Josie’s been in the hospitality business for about 20 years. She began as a PBX Operator, and worked her way through Front Office, Reservation, Banquet, and is currently Accounting Manager for San Luis Resort. 

Josie says “It takes a village to reach goals, and I can truly say that I appreciate the work and dedication of each department. Communication is the key! When you enjoy what you do, it doesn’t feel like work!” 

What is your name and job title? 

Josephine Randolph, Accounting Manager.

How long have you been with this brand or company?

I have been with the San Luis Resort for about 6 years.

What was your first hotel industry job?

My first job in the hotel industry was a PBX Operator. I enjoyed talking to our guest; a PBX Operator is one of the first impression a guest will receive prior to checking in, and I wanted to ensure I answer all their questions.

What is your hometown?

I grew up in Houston, Texas.

What would you say are hotel must-haves?

Great employees with endless enthusiasm, I believe that if we create a memorable experience, our guests will want to be repeat guests! Everything else enhances the experience.

What is the best advice you ever received?

You are your worst enemy. Change your inner-voice and conquer yourself. Once done, no other external obstacles can touch you. Delrita Woods taught me that.

What inspires you?

Family, Faith and Passion

Who do you look up to at work?

I have known Delrita Woods for 15 years, and she is so passionate about Accounting and teaching others to understand the fundamental aspects. One aspect is cross-training, you build a stronger team when everyone works together to complete common goals.

How has attending Short Course influenced your job?

Sometimes a refresher course helps us reconnect through different departments. Sometimes we focus on improving our own department, but we cannot forget we need to work together as a whole to complete company goals.

What was your most memorable moment at Short Course?

There were so many wonderful speakers, the one that stood out the most was Scott Joslove, the President and CEO of Texas Hotel & Lodging Association and his topic on Hotel Law. He emphasized the importance of communication and working together as a whole to support legislative laws that benefit the hospitality industry.

What advice do you have for those who are in our industry?

If you LOVE what you do, it will never feel like just a job!

Why would you recommend others to attend Short Course?

Attending the Short Course is a great opportunity to network and meeting new members in our industry. There is so much we can learn from each other.

I love being part of the Hospitality Industries, and I hope to continue to grow with the San Luis Resort.
