Lodging Association City Council Forum a Huge Success
THLA recently partnered with the Austin Hotel & Lodging Association to host its 2016 Austin City Council Candidate Forum.
The October 19th event provided a special opportunity for nine City Council candidates seeking election to five district seats to discuss their policy positions on numerous topics important to the lodging industry. In the Austin event, candidates discussed their position on the expansion of the convention center, the creation of a tourism public improvement district, and ensuring that events funded with hotel occupancy tax revenue directly promote tourism and hotel activity.
The event was a tremendous success, drawing an audience of more than 250 lodging and tourism industry professionals from across the city. Scott Joslove, President & CEO of THLA, moderated the event providing both targeted questions and follow-up with each of the candidates.
THLA continues to partner with local hotel and lodging associations across Texas in conducting political candidate forums. In addition to the most recent Austin forum, THLA will have partnered with associations in Corpus Christi, College Station and Dallas during this year’s election season to help ensure successful advocacy efforts on behalf of the lodging industry.
