Texas Hotel & Lodging Association is very excited to welcome to its staff Garrett Coppedge as Associate General Counsel!

Garrett joined THLA in February of this year, and has now officially been licensed as a Texas attorney.

As Associate General Counsel, Garrett works with THLA’s legal team to assist hoteliers, cities, and CVBs with legal questions regarding hotel occupancy tax, regulatory and legislative matters, as well as other operational issues facing our industry. Additionally, Garrett’s role includes serving as a legal resource to the various tourism public improvement districts across Texas.

Garrett regularly conducts seminars for cities and CVBs on the eligible uses of local hotel tax, and the most effective practices to maximize the impact of these funds on the hotel and tourism industry.  Garrett also provides seminars statewide to hoteliers on a diverse array of legal issues pertinent to the hotel industry.

Garrett will also be active in advocating for the hotel and tourism industry on state legislative issues that concern our industry.

Prior to joining THLA, Garrett worked at a law firm where he represented individuals and businesses in a variety of real estate and business transactions. Garrett graduated from Texas Tech School of Law in 2020.
